HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT CARPET FOR EVERY ROOM
By Bramer's Flooring · 2025-02-02
Carpet is still the most popular flooring choice for bedrooms and lounges across Warwickshire. Choose well and it lasts a decade. Choose badly and you'll be replacing it in three years. Here's our room-by-room guide.
PILE TYPES EXPLAINED
Short pile (cut twist, velvet) is the most hard-wearing and easiest to clean — ideal for hallways and stairs. Thick pile (saxony, deep twist) is the softest and most luxurious — perfect for bedrooms. Looped pile (Berber, sisal-look) is rugged and contemporary — great for living rooms and studies.
FIBRE MATTERS
Wool: warm, naturally stain-resistant, premium price. Polypropylene: bleach-cleanable and affordable, our default for family homes. Polyamide (nylon): the toughest fibre, best for heavy-traffic stairs.
UNDERLAY IS NOT AN UPGRADE — IT'S ESSENTIAL
A good underlay (10–11mm PU foam) can double the life of a carpet and improve thermal and acoustic insulation. We always include underlay in your supply-and-fit quote.
ROOM-BY-ROOM
Bedrooms: thick pile wool or polypropylene. Living rooms: durable twist or looped. Stairs: short twist or polyamide. Hallways: solution-dyed polypropylene.
